The Digital World and Its Employment Impact

IEF Europe Chapter: You are Invited!
The Digital World and Its Employment Impact
June 2, 2016

Please join the International Employers Forum (IEF) for a panel discussion with open question-and-answer session around some of the key challenges that employers face in a world increasingly characterized by decentralization and digital oversight. The adoption of new technologies brings great opportunities and even greater risks to the unprepared.

Learn more about how to protect your business from liability during this discussion and ensuing cocktail reception where you will have an opportunity to network with like-minded HR professionals.

Key areas of discussion will include:
  • Flexible ways of working in the digital world. Determining an individual's employment status has increased in complexity as working practices and structures evolve to become more sophisticated in the digital economy, where web sites and mobile apps connect potential customers directly with service providers. We look at how the blurring of the lines between self-employed and employee or worker status can potentially lead to significant liabilities.

  • Employer is watching you. With employers increasingly utilizing technology to track workers' whereabouts, even their health, and the European Courts recently embracing a less sympathetic view of claims to a right to privacy when communicating on company systems, we discuss the differing legal and cultural approaches to privacy in the workplace across Europe and the US.
